Chardonnay tasting XMas party...

Posted by mkuller on December 11, 2016 at 14:03:24:

...our wine tasting group had our annual XMas party with our wives and conducted a blind chardonnay tasting (no previous winners - Rombauer and Butter).

There were 6 wines and 11 tasters. Here are the results:

6. 2015 Husch Anderson Valley - $18 - 49pts - 1 first, 3 lasts

5. 2013 Sequoia Grove Napa - $19 - 43pts - 1 first, 2 lasts

4. 2014 Olema Sonoma - $14 - 40pts - 1 first, 1 last

3. 2014 Press Run Sonoma - $16 - 37pts - 3 firsts, 3 lasts (my first)

2. 2014 Trefethen Napa - $21 - 36pts - 1 first, 2 lasts

1. 2014 MacRostie Sonoma - $14 - 25pts - 4 firsts, no lasts (my second)

The MacRostie was the big winner - 11pts separated it from the group below it.

It was very interesting how the wines changed along with their ratings as they warmed up over the hour or so we were tasting - like a moving target.
