Re: 1975 50 hp Evinrude Fuel problems?

Could be ignition related or simple carb problems. If the motor sits routinely for long periods between use it is probably gummed up carbs. In which case carb rebuilding is the answer. The next probable cause would be an ignition module or coil pack going dead. If I were a betting man I would bet on the carb problem. When I run a boat or any motor for that matter, I always keep fuel stabilizer in the fuel. when I come in to the dock I unhook the fuel line and run the motor out of gas completely. This saves a lot of carb repair money. a little fogging oil and seaspray are cheaper than carb rebuilds. Also just a thought, Is your gas fresh and water free? Or old and stale? Goodluck,TG. PS; start with the gas, then check carbs and fuel line and fuel pump before going to the ignition.
