Calibration of a Depth finder

I have a U.S. Marine depth finder which came with my 87 Bayliner Ciera 21&1/2 foot Cabin, which is reading much deeper than actual depth IE 22ft in 9ft water. I cannot find my manual for it, but, I think there is a way to re-set the unit,. Help! The transponder is fastened solid to the bottom of the craft, near the 305 Engine.
