Just my opinion, but it depends on how many people and dogs will be going duck hunting. If 3 shooters or 2 shooters and a dog are to go, I'd go for the extra 6" width. If just 2 shooters or 1 shooter and a dog will go, I'd opt for the 54" wide OR look at the 15' fiberglass RiverHawk (surprisingly stable for a canoe-looking boat, able to go places you'll never get in your first two choices). You might also consider how many dozen decoys will be aboard. For a motor, it depends on whether you'll be on a big river or small lakes and ponds. I'm sure the factory ratings for both your choices are way above 10hp, but for reasonable speed (for a duck hunter), a 9.9 4cycle is plenty of power and will let you on small lakes that restrict horsepower to 10 or less. (There are a lot of those around the country.) Go for the electric starter models. My 2000 Honda works great. I can go 16mph (measured with GPS) with two people and gear aboard. Just curious, where will you be hunting?
