If your tank was not vented, it was only a matter of time before the motor fails. I do not think it was vapor locked, vapor lock is usualy a condion created wile starting the motor.put some mufflers on it or throw it in a tank and try to run it again. make sure your tank is vented. I supose its possible your pluggs fouled, that could cause hard running condition. Possible you sucked some crap into your carb also.
