Need help setting WAV encoder in iTunes

Please help. When I set my iTunes for the WAV encoder and I close the window it reverts back to the AIFF encoder. It won't stay set for WAV. Is there an 'apply' button that I am not seeing at the bottom of the window that I may be missing? Thanks
