Did anybody make it to West of West - In SF this year!?

I did make it - very well attended - I missed lots of producers, but I did get to see lots of favorites-
Flowers, LioCo, Alma Fria, Soliste, Furthermore, Red Car, Ceritas, Senses, Gross Ventures...

Happy Listening

...had not herd about it till your post.

Just checked the line-up and saw lots of obscure winery names, only two or three I recognize.

I usually avoid these big events because of the crowds and finding good wine among the many tables is not easy.

The best ones I've attended are the ZAP tasting at Fort Mason many years ago (too muc good zin) and an excellent Willamette Valley pinot noir tasting maybe 6 years ago at the Presidio.

Perhaps 3 years ago I attended a Sonoma pinot noir tasting at the Presidio that was not very good.

Pinot Days is coming up later this month - could be a Big event though-

...I think Pinot Days is similar to the tasting I mentioned a few years ago. Crowded, lots of wineries, not much great pinot noir.

$75 now and it looks like they have about twice as many wineries involved.

Not heard of Winemaker's Salon before but it looks like a single winery program, somewhat like a private tasting at the winery.

Send me an email.

"finding good wine among the many tables is not easy."

But you can get really hammered trying. So, there's that.

:)

I went to ZAP years ago....during the trade portion. People were already getting drunk and dropping glasses....at the trade event!
I spit the whole time and was still getting hammered. Not the wines for me.

I can't imagine what the consumer tasting would be like

...I went maybe 20 years ago with a buddy and I'm not sure how he drove us home across the Bay. Once I got home I had to throw up - probably the last time I drank so much that's happened.

I love zinfandel but I've never been interested in going back.
