as I understand it, You fill from the lower hole till it comes out the top hole. Both are usualy a straight slot head screw. From what I have seen and heard, there should be a phillips head there too,, DO NOT remove that one unles you are terring it all apart anyway. Becuse thats what you will have to do if ya do.
Follow Ups:
Simple enough with your motor in an up right position, Do the following. you will see 2 large straight head screws. The lower one will be marked fill the upper one will be marked vent. If changing the lube, place a small bucket under the foot of the motor. Remove the bottom screw, then the vent screw allow all the oil to drain into the pan or bucket. Next simply cut the spout on your new bottle or tube of 80w-90w marine gear lube to fit the fill hole tightly. Squeeze the bottle or tube until oil flows smoothly out the vent hole, while maintaining pressure on the bottle replace the vent screw. then remove the bottle and quickly replace the bottom screw. tighten both screws securely wipe the excess from the foot and dispose of the old oil and you are done. There are many synthetic lubricants for marine gear cases. I would not use them with this motor.Stick with good quality oil and change it every year. If you suspect a leaky seal, Replace it. Good sailing,TG.
