  I have the same size boat. I only use it in freshwater though. But I have a 3 hp gamefisher that pushes it pretty fast since the boat is light. I was thinking about getting a 5 Hp Honda fourstroke which is probably alot more quiet than mine.

    Is your 3 hp outboard a 1 or 2 cylinder unit? It seems these days all outboards made are 1 cylinder to about 6 hp except the venerable Johnson 4 hp. The new 4 strokes sure are quiet and even with 1 cylinder quite smooth running. The only negative (besides price) is the weight, Honda 5 hp is about 60lbs., your gamefisher is probably under 30...
