Just purchased Roughneck 1652 Tunnel Hull. Concerned about cavitation/slippage etc... Will be powering with Merc. 40. looking for any advice on insuring I get the most out of this set up. Transom is 21" do I need a short shaft or long. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I think that would need a long shaft. the basic rule as I understand it is to make sure the plate on the bottom of your motor is apporx 1 inch below the bottom of the boat for best preformance. You do not want it too low below the bottom of the boat either.
