I am thinking about getting a 12' landau jon boat with a dry weight of 128 pounds, and a 9.9 mercury which is about 75 pounds. How fast do you guys think it will go at WOT in calm water? Thanks -Ben

My guess is 25mph, if the motor is in tip-top shape, the hull is clean and you don't have a family of four aboard. However, small boats load up quickly. The accompanying decrease in top speed is greater for a planing hull than for a displacement hull.

That boat should plane out nicely with only you. Another adult sized person will slow it a bit but it should still be fast enought for a fishing boat. A 15 horse may be what you want. I would first make sure that the boat will handle a 15. But I have a 14 foot bass tracker with on old 9.5 Evenruide and that is just fine for me. I use it on lakes any byou's.
