I was told that If I use Epoxy Glue in a scarf joint that I can't apply polyester resin over that joint or the resin will react with the epoxe and it may come loose. The same teacher taught that you can use epoxy over cured poly resin to make repairs on fiberglass boats, but never poly over a epoxy repair. Because I have held to be true I have always used other glues for my scarph joints. In the boat that I am now building I am using titebond II for all joints but intend to seal with poly resin as the wood is new and should asorb the resin well. Is there glue that will make my scharph joints stronger that will work with the poly resin??? I have built one boat using titebond II and it is sevearl years old and still holding. Any ideas???

If the information I have read and been told is correct the polyester resin will not damage the epoxy scarf, it simply will not make a decent bond with it. The other way around, applying epoxy on polyester resin, the bond will be fine. Both types are degraded by UV rays. If you wish to use polyester for a sealer and epoxy for scarfs you should paint also for UV protection and I believe it will be fine. Epoxy is much better at keeping moisture out but of course is more expensive, too. It would be good to hear from someone who has actually done what you are contemplating too, as I have not done that exact thing.
