Hello all, I have a 12' aluminum boat I like to get a small engine to propel it...but not sure what size engine (HP) i need to get to push my boat...also how fast will the engine size push my small boat?...I also read from a couple of place that you can convert your old weedeater or lawnmower to an outboard engine...is there a kit to do this?...if anyone done this before please let me know...any information would be greatly appreciated...thanks

I saw one of these conversions one time on a canoe in Indiana. I donot know where the kit came from. aquabug probably made it. I donot know if they are still in business. I would consider a small outboard from 5 to 15 hp.these will give you about 5 to 12 mph depending on the weight 0f the boat.your boat should have a placard on the boat telling you the max hp recomended. for your boat. i have one with 15 hp and one with 30 hp both are tiller control. and the 30 really scoots. these are 14 ft fiber glass boats. try www.smalloutboards.comfor a used motor at a really good price.
