We purchased a neat Bartender 19 last weekend. These double ended modified dory style boats were designed by George Calkins in the 50's and 60's for going over the bar on the Columbia River to fish for salmon in the Pacific. 19 feet LOA, Beam 6' 8", Draft 8". The 50 hp. Merc is in a well. This boat was built by Mr. Calkins in 1982 for his own use and has a sail rig...!!!Anybody else have a Bartender? Got some insight on how these boats run? Please post your comments and questions.

Thom, what a great boat! I can't wait to read about your adventures in your new Bartender! How about posting somemore pictures. There was a Bartender like that for sale all summer in Summit, NJ for a very reasonable price that I was considering, but the neighbors are already complaining about all the boats in my yard. They think I am like the Beverly Hill Billys with boats; you must know the feeling.
Great looking boat Tom.
You absolutely will not find a smoother riding boat for the choppy stuff - be prepared to grin when making way through the nasties.
