I would assume the seller is referring to an electrically controlled hydraulic device that changes the angle of the motor. This is very nice to have, especially with a heavy motor, but not necessary. Trim can be adjusted manually, though not while underway, of course.As far as what trim "is"....it's the posture of your boat. For instance, running with the bow too high or too low, or listing to one side or the other.

i have a 50 hp 1973 . i put a after market t&t on it and i wouldnt do without one now . you can order one from the factory but they will charge you sugested retail i got mine from a dealer . at thaty time it wasaround $500.00. you can trim it out to the corect point to run the boat . tilt it up when pulling up to the shore where it is shallow .
