I bought a new 115 Ficht Evinrude in April, 2000 along with a new boat. It was warranted for 2 years and while I did not know about the technology, the warranty eased my mind.Last Saturday, I was running at near full throttle and the power just quit. I restarted the motor and it clunked for about 5 seconds and locked up.
It appears that the block is cracked--no horns or lights came on, motor serviced and operated by the book. I have owned it for 17 months--used about twice a month in warm weather.
Anyone else having this type of problem? I learned in September that OMC had gone under and that Bombadier was only covering 2000 and up, voiding what should be under warranty for me.

I have a 99 115 Ficht. I guess I've been lucky with this motor. Seems to run fine. I did have some sort of factory upgrade couple of yrs ago. Something to do with the ignition. I have my motor on a small ski boat so I hardly run the throttle wide open. I never push it past 5000 rpm. I'll make sure I'll take it easy with it. I still pass my neighbour who's got an older 115 merc tower of power setup.
