Welcome! Need support, you got it. Or share you ideas and experiences.
I have just acquired a 14' Lund aluminum boat and a like NEW 1972 (thats right!) 6HP Johnson with tank. I want to build a "platform" in this boat to make it sorta like a bassboat. You know, cover over the seats, put a couple of pedastal seats in it etc. I have some ideas but thought I would ask for any advice before I start. We have already painted the hull-2coats of primer, 2 coats Commodore Blue, Silver bottom and pinstripping. Any ideas from those who have done this? TIA

If you are planning on covering the whole thing you have to remember that weight will play a big role on what you can use.

i got a 14' and the front and back seat have a 3/4" piece of treated wood bolted on them, then the swivel seats bolted on the wood. they had to take out the rivots to put the wood on but just rerivoted it. I then made a platform off the middle seat mainly for storage underneath. I used a 2x10 the width of the boat and put it against the middle seat, i then screwed 2 more 2x10's about 6" off center 2' out. i used 2x4's on the very sides for support. I the got a 3/4" peice of treated wood and put it on top of the frame i just built. i put marine carpet on top of that. it turned out really great. it isn't even attached to the boat but it is very stable and doesn't move. i now have 3 storage spaces underneath too. the middle storage space is big enough for the life jackets to stack 3 high. then the 2 side spaces are great for all your extras. but it is all up to you about what you need. just make sure you get treated lumber. i am very happy with what i did. if you want i can take a picture and email it to you. let me know. thanks
