Zin tasting...

Posted by mkuller on March 18, 2014 at 21:58:02:

...six of us met and tasted the 6 wines blind.

The top 3 are really the only ones worth mentioning since they were in a cluster of low scores separated from the others.

3. 15 points - Rosenblum Vintners Cuvee XXXV $9
2. 14 points - 2012 Seghesio Sonoma $20
1. 11 points - 2012 Brown Estate Napa $40

They were my 1, 2, and 3 also.

Others in the tasting were Dashe Dry Creek 2012 (corked), Alderbrook Wind Machine Dry Creek 2011 and Deaver Amador 2010.

A few I tasted and rejected before deciding to bring the Seghesio were Rock Wall Monte Rosso 2010 Reserve, Rosenblum Rockpile Road 2010, and Rafanelli Dry Creek 2011 (needs more bottle age).

Thanks for your suggestions.
