Wine tasting group - Italian varietals...

Posted by mkuller on October 13, 2011 at 22:26:22:

...lots of highly rated chianti.

Five tasters and five wines.

#5 - 20pts - Ruffino Chianti Classico Reserva 2007 $19 (WS 90pts)
#4 - 18pts - Quorum Barbera D' Asti 2003 $40
#3 - 17pts - Vitticio Chianti Classico Reserva 2007 $22 (WS 93pts)
#2 - 14pts - Castello D' Albola Chianti Classico 2007 $16 (Ws 90pts)
#1 - 6pts - Kuleto Estate Sangiovese 2008 $40

The Castello is the bargain, on the lighter side with cherry fruit (BevMo), but the Kuleto is worth seeking out - everyone rated it first except one taster who had it second.
