Finally tried a Valedez Family Zin. It was the '07 Botticelli Vineyard. WS gave it an 89, said it sells for $41, I got it at Catalan Restaurant here in Houston for $54. Love this restaurant!
Very good zin. Think Turley a few years ago. Very ripe, plush fruit, jammy nose, but still totally under control. Everyone at the table enjoyed it.
Tonight I'm drinking '07 Novy Sweet Voignier. Opened it last night and drinking it tonight. Excellent. Think really good (not great) Sauternes. Candied apricot, pineapple with just a touch of acidity. Great nose.
