Two highly rated chardonnays...

Posted by mkuller on September 7, 2010 at 14:30:02:

...recently tried these two.

What a difference.

Alpha Omega Napa 2007 - $50 - 94 points WS ($40 internet)
This is simply a stunning chardonnay - complex flavors, lots of fruit and balance - everyone who tastes it raves about it. One of the best in recent memory.

2008 Bernardus Monterey County - $24 - 92 points WS ($16 Costco)
This is a decent chardonnay but it has some off flavors so I'm surprised it rates more than the mid to high 80 point range. (I tried a few bottles.) Forget about it.

2 point difference - night and day.

Says a lot about the value of ratings and WS is the only one I pay attention to.
