Wine Spectator likes a Zin!

Posted by jimbill on February 1, 2010 at 15:29:43:

They just rated a Carlisle zinfandel "96". I thought a couple of years back that they stated that they weren't going to give any zins a classic rating because the grape wasn't capable of being that complex?

By the way, the Carlisle zin (if you can get it) is $40. Or you can buy a bottle of Haut Brion white* for $680. It got a "97".

*All snickering aside, an Haut Brion white I had the luck to try back in the late 70's is still the finest dry white I have ever tasted.
