1.) '82 Mouton --The Olga Korbut of Parker's rating system in that it was the first perfect 100 he ever awarded. Parker built his career on hyping the '82 vintage which is, no doubt, great. The '82 Mouton, sadly, is not. I've cellared this wine from its release and tasted it last New Year's Eve. It showed nothing, and I was so perplexed by this that I opened a second bottle one week later. Same underwhelming juice. I seriously doubt that this wine is merely in an awkward stage, or needs more time. I'd auction off my remaining bottles but for the sorry condition of the labels.
2.) '66 and '78 Latour --Also tasted last New Year's Eve, and to my utter amazement, both were way over the hill. In its youth, the '78 Latour was the most tannic wine I'd ever encountered. Now there's not much left.
