Last night there were reports of Kay and Arthur's death on several of the wine boards. This morning, these mentions have been deleted.We can only hope that this is yet another instance of an internet rumor -- a ghoulish one at that. One of the problems with the web as a new medium is that there is no fact-checking mechanism, as there is in traditional print publications. This brings to mind the incident this summer where another wine board had reports that I had fallen to a cardiac stroke and had been hospitalized in Mācon. It all turned out to be a misunderstanding that unfortunately appeared on the web.
I heard from Sue Ng in Germany this morning, who saw Mr. Scott's post and was totally shocked. Sue told me that she had spoken with Kay on Monday, Kay was house-sitting Sue's apartment, and Kay had not mentioned anything about a trip to California.
So, let's hope this all a rumor run amok.
