Is 9.9 HP enough for a 14' Jon Boat?

I had a 14' narrow flat bottom aluminum boat with a 9.9 HP Evinrude and it had a top speed of about 14 mph with two people in it. It would plane out if only one person was in it with top speed of about 22 mph (used a GPS to determine speeds). A drunk driver ran into the back of the boat and trailer while it was parked on the side of the road at a friend’s house. The boat was totaled and the motor is in the shop now. My dad bought a 14' Jon Boat, but it doesn’t have a motor. The Jon Boat is about 1.5 times as wide as the old boat and I figure it is about 50% heavier. Do you think the 9.9 HP will be enough for the Jon Boat or should I look for a larger motor? It will be at least another week before we get the motor back and I am anxious to see how it does on the larger boat.
