18hp on Boat I think is rated for 15hp

I'm not sure of the hp rating for my 12' 1954 Cadillac aluminum boat. Members of this board have suggested that it is 15hp. I have a 1957 18hp Johnson Sea Horse. What do you think of potentially overpowering the boat by 3hp? Thanks!
