I would check with the fine people at the wooden boat forum. They can be found at: http://www.woodenboat.com/ There is a forum associated with Wooden Boat Magazine that has a lot of knowlegable people on it. You will have to register but I believe if you are serious about building a wooden boat you will find it worth it.You will get a lot more action over there than here.
