Smoke from a two cycle always means too much oil in the mixture or the carburator is running too rich. The fuel goes into the crankcase of a two cycle engine before going up through the ports in the cylinder walls to be ignighted. The oil in the fuel lubricates all the moving parts including the crank and rod bearings. Poor or worn rings just means less compression in the cylinder and vacuum in the crankcase. Lean the carburator out but first get the mixture right for the motor.
