There´s a cheap, simple and effective trick

Get a piece of thin rope, and screw one end of it to the tripod screw in the base of your camera. Let the other end drop to the floor, and put your foot on it, thus keeping the rope tight. Now, focus and shoot: unless you are extremely shaky, it will work fine for speeds as low as 1/4th of a second!
