Like you I am waiting. I have an N80 and a selection of lenses. But I think the prices will come down, and Nikon has to follow Canon's lead with the 24 x 36 mm sensor. In fact, now that their flagship has it, the rest of the Canon line will have to follow. Not 11.1 mega pixels, but the size. Prices are dropping as well, and white balance gets better every year. So in 2004 or 2005, perhaps the combination of cost and features will finally lure me in.

But why not get a small 2-3 megapixel point and shoot for e mail and as a learning experience.

For what it's worth, Bush is stuck with the recession, but it really started in 2000 under Clinton. His administration tried to delay the bad news until after the election. Just check the Dow Jones or S&P 500 numbers back then. It's very clear when the down turn started. Then 911 really got it stalled; but again, you can't lay that on Bush either. What we do need from Bush is some positive action to get things restarted. I'm waiting.
