i'd like some advice for a new SLR camera

hello all,

i hope someone reads this. i don't this this forum could move slower.

here's the deal - around $350-$450, AF, SLR, has potential in an intro to B&W photography class and will not require the dexterity of a pediatric vascular surgeon.

i've gotten it down to the out the Sigma SA-7, Nikon N line and the Minolta Maxxum 5. anything else i should check out? used gear maybe?

btw, i also need lenses...i suppose a simple 28-80 zoom should be ok for now.
