Havn't had experience of this camera, however on paper it looks a very good digital camera and if up to canon's normal standard then should suit your needs.
Only disadvantage I can see is limited focal length of lens approx 35~70mm (35mm equiv) and obviously no interchangeable lenses, but then you would have to pay more for this. Perhaps you can try one in a good shop and download some pics to a floppy to view at home, if they have the facilities, or buy with money back or exchange. There is a lot of choice out there.
P.S. I use Nikon SLR and also Canon T90. Not gone digital, probably never will.
