Check out out Essex Camera in NJ. They did a great job cleaning my '52 Rolleicord III and Zeiss Super Ikonta A. Now they are very smooth and work perfectly. The price is pretty good and the turn around time was 2 weeks for me from the time of my aproval/payment. By the way they are recomded by the Leica Historical Society of America.
Anyway, since those cameras belong to your father and they are Leica. I think they wroth fixing consider the story and the centimental they represent. They are pretty tough cameras I would guess the oil is all dried up and need a good cleaning. As long as all the parts are intact and no broken parts they should last you another 50 years or so. Just past them on to your children.
