I second all these sentiments. Have a T30, and I had one of the first 600s. My son is using that now in college and it's still bulletproof. Not the best multimedia machine, or the best gamer, but if you want excellent design and reliability for working, writing, etc., it's great. Mine have come with clean install of op system, thinkpad programs, and NO junk on 'em, which is also nice. IBM is also great with warrantees and updating drivers and software.Don't know exactly what's going on now, but IBM went to direct marketing some time ago. That's probably why you don't find them in stores. The best deals are on the IBM surplus and refurbished store on eBay. Watch that for a couple weeks and you'll find some good deals.
