Okay fellow inmates. I dove in and switched. I actually, I switched back. I used the have an Apple II+ before the IBM PC came out. Having worked in offices full of PCs, I have been using various guises of Windows since. Finally, picked up a yoosed iMAC G4 with OSX panther. Mainly for graphics stuff and recording music. I'm using Audacity to deal with the music files. HOWEVER, I have an iMIC which I plug my turntable to and run Final Vinyl to get the music into my MAC. Problem is the iMIC is really noisy. Loud hiss, drop-outs, ground problems, etc etc etc. I seem to be able to get around the drop-outs issue and grounding with a bit of effort, but the hiss is not good.
Can anybody recommend a decent sound card(or box) that accepts RCAs as input and outputs a digital signal via USB? I don't want to spend more than ... oh $100 or so? Will also need a phone preamp so if a there is a built in one, that's even better.
Thanks in advance!
