...6 of us blind tasted 6 zins. We had bratwurst and potato salad with the tasting instead of usual bread and cheese.

The wines tasted different with the food and without which should be no surprise.

Ratings are 1 pt for your favorite and 6pts for the one you like the least - low points wins.

6. Turley Heminway Napa $40 - 26pts - 1 first
5. Rafanelli Dry Creek $35 - 25pts - 1 first
4. Artezin Mendocino $24 - 23pts
3. J. Dusi Paso Robles $45 - 20pts - 1 first
2. Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve $15 - 19pts
1. Klinkerbrick Lodi $15 - 13pts - 3 firsts

The biggest point spread is between #1 and the rest - the Klinkerbrick is a bargain. A Lodi zin won our last tasting.

This is not one of Turley's best - a new vineyard they took over.

I think the Rafanelli needs more bottle age to develop its fruit - a couple of us described it as "ok but not much going on".

I have tasted and bought the Artezin and the J. Dusi.

I tried the Klinker Brick and it was
very good. I paid $19 in NE Ohio.
I would say it is my favorite Zin
in the $20 price range.
