...5 of us tasted 6 chiantis or sangioveses from any vintage. Low points wins.

A 2009 Castello di Bossi Chianti Classico for $20 back then won with 9pts.

The next two tied with 15 points and are still available:

2012 Nozzole Chianti Classico Reserva $18 (I didn't care for this one)

2012 Viano Sangiovese Reserva (Martinez, CA) $18 (my #2)

The rest are not available and the #6 wine had 24pts.

Looks like fun! I realize you're from California but 2 great Italian producers for chianti, if you can get to try them, are Querciabella and Isole e Olena. Brunello's a whole different thing.

Visited Isole e Olena a couple of years ago -
Great people and a great winery/set of wines-
There Rosso is wonderful and 100% Sangiovese
The Vin Santo is amazing as well....
