Today it was Patz and Hall, Earlier in the week it was Penner Ash. Recently here in town Seven Hills was sold to a larger company.

Brand seems to be the powerful word these days.

They always say that nothing will change and in some cases you may never notice the changes...larger companies have larger sales teams. A winery like Spring Valley goes from having one person think about domestic sales while he/she isn't making wine to a sales team thats 75 people strong in every corner of North America. Its good to be the king.

Just talking out loud....

Just like Meiomi.

Are they keeping the same wine making team?

I haven't noticed a drop off in quality with Siduri since the sale.

I remember when I was at CNN (we were owned by Time Warner at the time) and they announced that AOL woo deb acquiring us. It made no sense to me, but I figured that the folks in suits must know what they are doing.
Not so much.
Who knows why all these companies buy only to turn around and sell. Even established companies seem to only be desirable until stock starts to fluctuate.

Lawyers and in this case, bankers, always win.

Almost everything will stay the same with Seven Hills. Casey is still in charge of the wine.
He was driving a much nicer car the other day however...and yes I needled him about it!

Can't read the article w/o a subscription.
It's getting a little crazy isn't it? Maybe I should wave a flag and yell "Hey, Over Here!"

The Copain sale has triggered a lot of noise among the smaller producers-
In addition - as with what happened at Siduri (2015) the Winemaker can NO LONGER have "custom" clients - that is the winemaker can no longer work for multiple wineries-
They may keep a personal (their own name) project on the side- but no to having a winemaker work for multiple wineries....

Ironically while I do decry many of these sales- the Cow Girl Creamery sale will probably help the company survive for another 25+ years- which would not have been the case w/o the sale.....
Happy Listening
