with so little to go on, I can see the best of the worst have already arrived. I am enjoying a Gallo of Sonoma (as contrasted to what? a Gallo of East 42nt Street?) Cab Sab. vint. 1999 1/2. Well, it's red, and I think they used some kind of grapes in it, and it hasn't turned yet. Goes with Ritz crackers and a Sierra Nevada Porter (heavy on the Porter).

I try to like the Chard's, with food of course, but the White Fumes are my preference in whites. (I try not to spend more than $13 for 750ml). But my turning from the fortified twist-offs happened a long time ago at a Christmas dinner hosted by a team of businessmen/doctors who had a few cases of the real Bordeaux. I confess that I may have had a drink or two of something before dinner, but I will never forget the first mouthful of that sweet nectar of the Gods. I have never since tasted anything like it.
It is my life-long quest to find that fountain of bliss. The problem with wine, you can't buy the good stuff, it has to find you.

Gallo of Brooklyn '98 vintage --- reasonably priced port with exceptional, round delivery, wide robust full palette, and unique smoothness with remarkable finish. Highly recommended!
