A couple of weeks ago, I almost turned into the wrong lane at an intersection. My wife was concerned that the family trait of cataracts had come home to roost in my eyes. I proclaimed that it might just be that the headlight bulbs, approximately six years old, were worn out and dim. A few days later, I went to the local WalMart, purchased a pair of GE Hawkeye replacement bulbs and promptly installed them. They do seem to perform much better.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Or am I guilty of the futility of trying to hold back the onslaught of middle age?

Not the bulbs themselves in my experience, but the the reflectors can become cloudy and plastic lenses get foggy from sun damage.

The cloudy reflectors haven't been worth worrying about, but the fogged lenses seriously deminish performance and can be cleared up with plastics polish.

The fact that you got better performance from new bulbs could mean otherwise or the new bulbs are of higher output.

Best wishes, Craig
