I recently bought a 1999 BMW 328i with 38,000 miles. Pristine. So I had the rear windows tinted really dark. Uh-oh. The Bimmer has an auto-darkening rear view mirror, and now it is hard to see through it, even in bright sunlight. I tried taping off its sensors with electrical tape, but it only made things worse. Surprisingly, it works real well at night, and there is no glare from the headlights of the cars behind me. Apparently, this mirror is part of the extra cost premium package. A regular, manual-dimming mirror is $89 as a replacement part. Anybody know where I might get BMW parts for less (even used)?

thanks,

Al Lau

there are ads from companies that specialize in used parts for many of the makes whose parts are ridiculously-priced at their respective dealerships. I've used at least one of the sources with good results.
