Cabernet tasting...

Posted by mkuller on January 17, 2013 at 21:53:24:

...our wine group of 6 met and tasted cabernets - here are the results:

(tasters rated their favorite #1 and the one they liked least #6 - the points from the group were totaled)

6. 2009 Eos Paso Robles $11 - 30pts
5. 2010 Turley Napa "The Label" $40 - 23pts
4. 2007 Nogle Lake County $45 - 22pts
3. 2008 Dry Creek (91pts WS) $19 - 21pts
2. 2009 Reynolds Napa Estate $45 - 16pts
1. 2009 Justin Paso Robles $22 - 8pts

Having been to the Justin winery, I can tell you they make a couple of cabs - a low priced one around $25 and a much better one at $60.

I have a bottle of the 2010 of the less expensive one I bought at Costco for $19 with the name painted on the bottle. The 2009 that placed #1 by a big margin here is much better - it has a red label and was purchased from BevMo.
